Located in the heart of Dania, Lux Neon is a dynamic art space dedicated to showcasing innovative works from our in-house artists and discovering new talent. Our gallery is not just a place to view art, but a hub for creative exchange and community engagement. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Curator to support our continued growth and vibrant programming.
Position Summary:
The Assistant Curator will be a key member of our team, responsible for a wide range of duties that are essential to the gallery's operations. This individual will work closely with the Gallery Director on curatorial tasks, digital marketing, sales, and administrative functions. The ideal candidate will be a proactive and articulate individual with a passion for contemporary art and a strong understanding of the digital landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
Curation and Collections Management:
- Catalog, photograph, and manage the inventory of all artworks produced in-house and by consigned artists.
- Assist in the curation of exhibitions and the overall aesthetic of the gallery.
- Write descriptive and engaging copy for artwork labels and online listings.
Digital Marketing and Content Creation:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy across multiple platforms.
- Create compelling visual content, including high-quality images and videos of artworks, for our website, social media, and email campaigns.
- Author and publish regular blog posts on our website, highlighting new artists, upcoming events, and gallery news.
- Design and distribute email blasts to our subscriber list.
Visitor Experience and Sales:
- Warmly greet all walk-in visitors and provide insightful information about the artworks and artists.
- Cultivate a welcoming and engaging atmosphere in the gallery.
- Assist with art sales, from initial inquiry to final order fulfillment.
Community Engagement and Administration:
- Proactively reach out to past clients to gather feedback, testimonials, and images of the artwork in their spaces.
- Assist with the management of our artist loft rental inquiries and calendar.
- Support the planning and promotion of gallery events and venue rentals.
- Ensure the lobby and gallery areas are clean, organized, and presentable at all times.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a gallery, museum, or similar creative environment is preferred.
- A keen eye for style and personal presentation.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; must be articulate and well-spoken.
- Demonstrable social media management skills and proficiency in creating digital content.
- Proficient in computer use, including MS Office Suite and ideally, experience with content management systems (CMS) and email marketing platforms.
- Bilingual abilities are a significant advantage but not a requirement.
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a small, collaborative team.
