Job Description

About the Role

We’re seeking a temp to hire Assistant Property Manager to support a growing portfolio of properties. This role combines leasing, compliance, bookkeeping, maintenance scheduling, and resident relations. It’s a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving, and wants to make a real impact on community living standards.

As the Assistant Property Manager, you’ll be the right hand to the Property Manager—stepping in as the main point of contact when needed and ensuring that residents enjoy a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Show, lease, and move in new residents while maintaining complete resident and office files.
  • Monitor rental activity and on-site marketing while staying current with the local market.
  • Assist with property inspections, move-ins, and move-outs to ensure units are rental-ready.
  • Collect rent, process payments, and manage banking deposits.
  • Provide administrative support including reporting, compliance documentation, and correspondence.
  • Respond to resident requests and concerns with professionalism and urgency.
  • Support maintenance scheduling, vendor coordination, and property inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with Fair Housing laws, local ordinances, and property policies.
  • Promote positive resident relations and foster a safe, clean, and community-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree a plus.
  • 1–2+ years of property management or related experience required.
  • Affordable Housing experience (LIHTC, HUD, RD, or 811 PRA) strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Fair Housing laws and compliance procedures.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Yardi experience a plus.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt quickly.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance.

What We’re Looking For

  • A self-starter with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Someone who can balance administrative work with hands-on property management.
  • A team player who can also take initiative and lead when needed.
  • A professional who treats residents with fairness and respect while ensuring compliance.

Physical/Other Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and handle office materials.
  • Moderate exposure to weather during site visits and inspections.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
