About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Buyer to support procurement activities within the aviation industry. This role requires a strong understanding of supply chain best practices and procurement compliance within a DFARS (Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement) environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships for aviation components and services while ensuring all purchases meet cost, quality, and delivery targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procure aviation materials, components, and services in compliance with DFARS and FAR requirements.
- Analyze supplier quotes and proposals to ensure competitive pricing and contractual compliance.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with vendors to secure the best value.
- Create and manage purchase orders in accordance with internal procedures and program requirements.
- Track order status and ensure on-time delivery to support production and program schedules.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and program management to ensure accurate specifications and timelines.
- Maintain supplier files, including certifications, flow-down requirements, and compliance documentation.
- Assist with supplier audits and performance evaluations as needed.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize procurement processes.
Required Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required (due to access to controlled information under ITAR/DFARS regulations).
- Minimum of 3–5 years of purchasing or procurement experience in the aviation, aerospace, or defense industry.
- Proven knowledge and hands-on experience with DFARS, FAR , and government contracting requirements.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience working in a DO/DX-rated contract environment .
- Familiarity with ITAR, EAR, and export compliance.
- APICS or CPM certification is a plus
