CNC Operator
Job Description:
The CNC Operator will be responsible for creating, modifying, and optimizing CNC programs to machine parts and tools to precise specifications. This role requires an individual with in-depth knowledge of CNC machinery, programming software, and a strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications. The CNC Programmer will collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality control personnel to ensure efficient and accurate production of components.
Qualifications :
Year of Experience: 5-7 years of experience in CNC programming and operating CNC machinery.
Education Required: Associate's degree or certification in CNC programming, machining, or a related field; a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline is a plus
Requirements:
- Proficient in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks).
- In-depth knowledge of G-code, M-code, and other CNC programming languages.
- Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and blueprint reading.
- Familiarity with machine setup, fixture design, and tooling.
- Experience with advanced machining processes, such as 3- axis, 5-axis machining.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and process improvement methodologies.
- Previous experience in a high-precision manufacturing environment.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Programming and Setup:
- Develop CNC programs based on engineering drawings, 3D models, and specifications for various machines (e.g., lathes, mills, routers).
- Select and set up appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feed rates for optimal machine performance.
- Adjust, troubleshoot, and optimize programs for machine efficiency, tool life, and quality control.
- Process Improvement:
- Collaborate with the production and engineering teams to improve machining processes, reduce cycle times, and maximize productivity.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives, including optimizing tool paths, reducing machine setup time, and ensuring lean manufacturing principles.
- Quality Control:
- Ensure that machined components meet quality standards and tolerances by performing test runs and inspections.
- Make program adjustments as necessary to maintain precision and accuracy.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain up-to-date documentation on CNC programs, machine settings, and tooling information.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards in CNC programming and operations.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues with CNC machines, software, and equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on CNC machinery as needed.
