We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Superintendent to oversee field operations on municipal and public works projects including fire departments, police stations, K–12 schools, ambulance facilities, and other civic buildings. This is a great opportunity to join a well-established general contractor known for delivering complex, deadline-driven public sector construction projects throughout Long Island and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain strict adherence to project schedules, safety protocols, and local/state building codes.
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for inspectors, owners, and project management staff.
  • Enforce jobsite safety and cleanliness standards per OSHA and municipal guidelines.
  • Conduct daily site walks, coordinate deliveries, and manage logistics for staging areas and critical path work.
  • Facilitate jobsite meetings and prepare daily field reports, documenting progress, delays, and key issues.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications and municipal contract requirements from mobilization through punch list and turnover.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of superintendent experience on ground-up or major renovation projects in the public sector (e.g., schools, fire/police departments, civic buildings).
  • Strong knowledge of site logistics, public construction documentation, and managing union or prevailing wage crews.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, project specs, and public bid documents.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills to manage diverse field crews and collaborate with architects, engineers, and public officials.
  • Proficiency in Procore, Microsoft Office, or similar construction management platforms.
  • OSHA 30 certification required; additional safety training or public works certifications are a plus.

What We Offer

  • The chance to lead meaningful community-based construction projects that improve public infrastructure and safety.
  • A stable, family-oriented work environment with a long track record of success in municipal and institutional construction.
  • Competitive compensation and opportunities for long-term career growth
