Summary Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Professional Responsibility, Investigative Operations Directorate, in various locations across the U.S. (list of locations). Duties This announcement will be open for 5 business days OR until the first 300 applications have been received. The Criminal Investigator is responsible for coordinating and completing complex investigations involving misconduct, criminal activity, and corruption by CBP employees and related entities. Responsibilities include: Employing agency authorities in support of investigations affecting national security and agency integrity. Gathering and analyzing information from various sources, including law enforcement databases and interviews. Serving as case agent for interagency investigations and leading investigative teams. Performing specialized investigative activities, including providing briefings, conducting investigations involving use of force, and preparing investigative reports. Requirements Must be a U.S. Citizen. Males born after 12/31/1959 must register with Selective Service. Must have U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years. May be required to pass background checks and polygraph. Follows DHS drug testing policies. Additional requirements include valid driver’s license, willingness to relocate, and ability to operate government vehicles. Qualifications GS-12: 1 year of specialized experience in criminal investigations, warrants, evidence gathering, and report writing. GS-13: 1 year of experience in investigations involving misconduct, serving as undercover or case agent, and preparing legal documents. Your resume must explicitly demonstrate how you meet these requirements. Additional Information Position may require security clearance, medical exam, firearms qualification, polygraph, and drug testing. Age restrictions apply unless covered by specific exceptions.
