Our client is in need of a CAD Designer to help with designing single-stage and progressive dies for stamping and forming metal parts per customer specifications. Maintains a uniform CAD database for die component construction using current CAD software.
Essential Job Functions
- Reviews estimates, customer POs, die specifications, and part print tolerances before design work begins.
- Conducts design reviews with the Project Manager and Estimator, addressing development, inspection, and maintenance.
- Coordinates design schedules with the Project Manager to meet customer deadlines.
- Creates preliminary CAD layouts, including:
- Plan, top, and section views
- Die component materials
- Press mounting details
- Sensors and stock progression
- Tryout material requests
Additional Job Functions
- Finalizes designs with the Project Manager and Estimator before submission.
- Documents revision levels and updates CAD files in the job shop control database.
- Prepares bills of materials and monitors costs within budget.
- Oversees die development, labor tracking, and benchmark documentation.
- Ensures CAD database accuracy before tooling shipment.
- Provides sales team with progress reports as needed.
- Reviews pre-designed jobs to ensure CAD database uniformity.
Job Qualifications
- 4-10 years of trade school, vocational education, work experience, or apprenticeship in tool and die making.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Job Shop Control Software, Skyline Estimating, and Quotation Database software.
- Basic understanding of Job Shop Control Systems and Skyline estimating procedures.
- Valid Tennessee Driver’s License.
- Minimal physical demands; normal office environment with some travel.
- Ability to follow additional job-related instructions as required.
