Introduction to Role: In Hematology R&D, we aim to advance science and deliver transformative medicines for patients. Our pipeline utilizes six scientific platforms to address unmet needs in hematological cancers, from discovery to late-stage development. The team handles drug development activities from first-in-human studies to regulatory approval, focusing on robust preclinical, clinical, and translational data to support drug approval.

We seek a Director, Translational Medicine Lead in Hematology R&D to lead biomarker development in drug discovery and development, impacting a portfolio from inception to lifecycle management.

Accountabilities:

  1. Lead strategic implementation for target identification, indication selection, and patient stratification in Hematology.
  2. Deliver and generate biomarkers for clinical studies to guide therapy and patient selection.
  3. Measure target engagement and understand pathway interactions to inform drug combinations.
  4. Define resistance mechanisms by studying tumors at relapse.
  5. Collaborate across Oncology Research to integrate translational strategies in early development.
  6. Design and execute phase 1/2a studies to generate safety, PK, PD, and efficacy data.
  7. Manage research collaborations and ensure clinical assay quality.
  8. Contribute to study reports, data reviews, publications, and scientific recommendations.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • PhD and/or MD with oncology drug development experience.
  • Oncology training, preferably board-certified or eligible in Oncology and/or Hematology.
  • 5+ years in drug development within pharma or biotech.
  • Deep knowledge of hematology biology, with expertise in myeloma, leukemia, and lymphoma.
  • Experience with T cell engagers, antibody-drug conjugates, or cell therapies is preferred.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
  • Proven leadership in managing complex projects and motivating teams.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Additional years of experience and higher education levels are preferred.
