Job Description

Lead Reliability in a High-Tech Ashley Distribution Center

It’s 6:30 a.m. and you’re walking a state-of-the-art distribution floor. Conveyors hum, automated material handling systems are alive, and your multi-shift maintenance team is syncing up for the day. You review overnight CMMS logs, prioritize a predictive maintenance task that will prevent a mid-day breakdown, and coach a supervisor on a root-cause analysis from last night’s event. By mid-morning, you’re partnering with Manufacturing Engineering and Distribution leaders to optimize a powered industrial vehicle (PIV) inspection process. After lunch, you finalize a parts order to protect critical spares, meet a vendor about a controls upgrade, and close the day with a safety Gemba walk—because uptime and safety both matter here.

The Role

Ashley Furniture is seeking a strategic, hands-on leader to oversee maintenance operations across multiple shifts in a fast-paced distribution environment. You’ll own the performance and reliability of equipment, facilities, and PIV fleets while advancing preventive and predictive programs that keep our network moving.

What You’ll Lead

  • Mentor, coach, and develop maintenance supervisors and technicians to high performance.
  • Plan and coordinate daily maintenance to minimize downtime and maximize throughput.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize material handling machinery in partnership with Manufacturing Engineering and Distribution teams.
  • Build and mature preventive and predictive maintenance strategies using CMMS.
  • Manage budgets, control spare parts inventory, and cultivate strong vendor partnerships.
  • Champion safety compliance and adherence to company standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement and lean initiatives across the maintenance function.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field—or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years leading maintenance in distribution or manufacturing.
  • Deep knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Hands-on CMMS experience and data-driven decision making.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and balance multiple priorities.

Technical Proficiency

  • PLC troubleshooting
  • Leadership and people development
  • Preventive maintenance planning
  • Heavy equipment repair
  • PM inspections and execution
  • Electrical diagnostics
  • Root cause analysis
