The Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Technician is an entry-level position responsible for correctly fitting and removing splints and other orthopedic devices for patient care. The position reports to the Supervisor, Orthopedic Technicians in the Orthopedics department. Responsibilities include applying and fitting DME such as splints and orthopedic devices, removing external orthopedic hardware, educating patients on the application, use, care, and expected outcomes of DME products, ensuring documentation for payer requirements, delivering DME to procedure rooms, directing patients in home rehabilitation exercises, performing minor wound care and suture/staple removal, supporting organizational vision, mission, and values, championing Lean principles of continuous improvement, maintaining a safe environment, conducting activities professionally and confidentially, complying with laws and policies, delivering timely and accurate customer service, and performing additional duties as assigned. Required education is a high school diploma or equivalent, with preferred training as a nursing assistant or similar. Required certification is current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider. Preferred experience includes one or more years in patient contact or related work. The role requires strong computer, communication, problem-solving, organizational, and patient-relationship skills, and the ability to work independently and in a team. Physical requirements include standing, walking, sitting, lifting, and occasional bending or climbing. The position is full-time, day shift, with a pay range of $22.17 - $27.72 per hour depending on experience.
