Position: Forensic Interviewer

Reports to: Associate Vice President, Behavioral Health Programs


The Forensic Interviewer of Delta Health Alliance Children's Advocacy Center is responsible for conducting forensically sound interviews of children in cases involving suspected abuse. The primary goal is to gather accurate, impartial information to support multidisciplinary team (MDT) members and inform potential legal proceedings, ensuring the child's safety, well-being, and access to justice.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


• Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred (human services, psychology, social work, criminal justice, or other related field)

• Advanced knowledge of child abuse dynamics, child development, and forensic interviewing

• Able to demonstrate discretion, maturity, integrity, and compassion in handling sensitive issues

• Demonstrate the ability to work professionally with children and parents/caregivers

• Excellent written, verbal, problem solving, and organizational skills

• Excellent computer and database skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

• Must have a valid driver's license and current proof of insurance


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Forensic Interviewer is responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:

• Responsible for following the Children's Advocacy Center of Mississippi (CACM) protocols for interviewing children who are suspected victims of child abuse (sexual or physical), severe neglect, drug endangerment, collateral victims and witnesses of abuse or violence

• Conducts forensic interviews of alleged child abuse victims with input from the multidisciplinary team members including pre-interview and post-interview meetings

• Maintains input of forensic interview notes into data tracking system (summary, case notes, pre and post interview meeting, etc.)

• Maintains ChildFirst Certification

• Participates in Local, State, and National Peer Review meetings on a yearly basis to give and receive feedback about Forensic Interviews

• Attends MDT leadership team meetings for Washington County

• Functions as an effective member and facilitator of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) including law enforcement personnel, case workers, prosecutors, medical and mental health personnel by meeting and communicating with the MDT in a timely manner after the interview is complete

• Participates in case staffing, case review, and individual and group staffing

• Oversees the scheduling of forensic interviews

• Assists in updating and implementing forensic interview policies and procedures

• Provides fact and/or expert witness testimony in court when requested

• Attends all trainings as directed by the Executive Director and/or Program Director

• Works in a professional and respectful manner with staff and team members

• Conducts all activities with the highest ethical standards and professionalism

• All other duties as assigned
