Our program fosters intrinsic motivation, resilience, and collaboration in a vibrant, in-person community. We’re seeking a passionate French teacher to bring the joy of speech to our learners.

Bursaries available for teachers willing to participate in R&D for a new methodology.

Job Description

We are urgently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Freelance French Teacher to join our team. You will design and deliver engaging French speech lessons that align with our inquiry-based, student-centered approach, inspiring students to explore and immerse French through creative projects, storytelling, and real-world applications. Working 20 hours per week, you’ll collaborate with the program coordinator to integrate French Speech into our Clubs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach interactive French speech lessons for mixed-age groups (4-6, and 7-12 years), tailored to diverse learning needs.
  • Incorporate French into themes (e.g., exploring culture, storytelling), fostering curiosity and intrinsic motivation.
  • Support students in reflecting on their learning journey, including challenges and successes, using tools provided by us.
  • Collaborate with the program coordinator to align lessons and student progress, and provide feedback via provided tools, teaching models, and curriculum outlines.
  • Create a supportive, inclusive environment that encourages resilience and celebrates growth.
  • Participate in monthly public sessions to showcase student progress and foster community.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in French (native or near-native proficiency) and strong English communication skills.
  • Experience teaching French to young learners (ages 4–12) in an educational or community setting is not needed but an asset.
  • Passion for inquiry-based, student-centered learning and fostering intrinsic motivation.
  • Ability to engage mixed-age groups with creative, hands-on activities.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with team and students.
  • Teaching certification or equivalent experience is preferred but not required.
  • Background check required (can be obtained upon hire).

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly rate of $23.50–$27.00.
  • Bursaries available for qualified teachers.
  • Opportunities for professional growth.
  • 5-hour weekly schedule, ideal for work-life balance.
  • Opportunity to shape young learners’ love for French in a dynamic, innovative program.
  • Join a supportive community dedicated to holistic growth and resilience.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis due to urgent need. We look forward to welcoming you to our WEMH Foundation community!
