Role Description

We are seeking a full-time, in-office Client Accounting Services (CAS) Associate. This is not a remote or virtual position. As a CAS Associate, you will work directly with clients to manage bookkeeping, maintain general ledgers, handle payroll and sales/use taxes, and prepare financial reports. You will be an essential part of our team, working collaboratively to deliver exceptional service and insights to our clients.

Our ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and at least three years of experience in public accounting, working on multiple client engagements simultaneously. Specific experience with accounting for not-for-profit entities is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Public accounting experience is preferred (working with multiple clients at once)
  • Familiarity with not-for-profit accounting is preferred (fund accounting, classes)
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is preferred (Associate degree or equivalent experience considered)
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, journal entries, bookkeeping, and accounting
  • Minimum of three years of accounting/bookkeeping experience
  • Minimum of two years of experience with QuickBooks accounting software
  • Experience with payroll taxes
  • Experience with sales & use taxes
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • Analytical problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient with Microsoft software including Word and Excel

Sample of regular duties and responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Collect and organize client accounting documentation (invoices, purchase orders, checks, etc)
  • Record accounting information in accounting software (generally QuickBooks desktop or online)
  • Prepare schedules for accruals, deferrals, prepaid assets, unearned revenue, fixed assets, and similar
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements as needed
  • Prepare and file sales tax and process payroll tax returns
  • Maintain compliance with accounting policies
  • Assist clients with tax notices and workers’ compensation audits
  • Work closely with tax and audit staff
  • Prepare Forms 1099, W-2 and other year-end payroll forms
