We are seeking a highly organized, bilingual (English/Spanish) Paralegal to join our team and support our legal team in handling various immigration case types.
Responsibilities:
Case Preparation and Management:
- Assist attorneys in preparing and drafting immigration petitions, applications, motions, and supporting documents.
- Review client files and gather necessary information for case preparation, including gathering documents, evidence, and other required materials.
- Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documents are filed and updated in a timely manner.
- Prepare and file immigration forms with USCIS, EOIR, and other relevant agencies, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
Client Communication and Support:
- Communicate with clients to request necessary documents and provide updates on case status.
- Assist clients with completing required forms, explain legal procedures, and answer basic questions under attorney supervision.
- Schedule appointments for clients with attorneys and assist in preparing for consular processing and USCIS interviews and hearings.
Legal Research and Documentation:
- Conduct legal research related to immigration law and specific client cases, under the direction of the supervising attorney.
- Review legal documents and forms for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with current immigration law.
- Prepare and file motions, waivers, and other legal documents as needed, including I-751 petitions, U-Visa, T-Visa, VAWA cases, family-based adjustment applications, and more.
Case Follow-Up and Tracking:
- Track and monitor case deadlines, court dates, and appointments to ensure that all filings are timely and accurate.
- Maintain regular communication with government agencies and clients regarding case status, updates, and requests for additional documentation.
Court and Interview Preparation:
- Prepare clients for USCIS interviews, court appearances, and other immigration-related appointments, ensuring they are fully informed and prepared.
- Attend USCIS interviews and hearings with clients, as needed, to provide support and assistance during proceedings. Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with attorneys, legal assistants, and other staff members to ensure seamless case management and client service.
- Assist in delegating tasks to other team members as needed, ensuring efficient workflow and timely case progress.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (required).
- 2+ years of experience as a paralegal in an immigration law firm or a similar legal environment preferred.
- Knowledge of immigration law, including VAWA, U-Visa, T-Visa, family-based adjustment of status, waivers, naturalization, and I-751 petitions.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive client information and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and case management systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
