About The Role
Portex is seeking an exceptional Head of Engineering with a strong backend focus. This role is pivotal, working closely with the CEO to define the technical vision and architecture as we scale. You will have a significant impact, playing a key role in our success, and actively coding daily.

What You'll Do

• Partner with the CEO to advocate for engineering and contribute to product strategy.
• Collaborate with Product and customers to understand requirements and solve problems effectively.
• Manage complex code migrations and customer demands.
• Design and implement the platform's long-term architecture.
• Develop end-to-end SaaS features with a focus on backend development.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor engineers.
• Lead retrospectives with Product for continuous improvement.
• Estimate work, set release targets, and lead sprint planning.
• Oversee multiple projects, prioritizing effectively.
• Manage team members and assist in recruiting efforts.

Qualifications

• Experience building new products from scratch (0 to 1).
• Ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and team development skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience negotiating product roadmaps.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and proactive approach.
• High emotional stability under stress.
• Motivated with high personal standards.
• Willingness to take on informal Product Management tasks.
• Ability to prioritize and focus on critical tasks.
• Experience integrating AI or LLMs into B2B workflows.

Technical Skills

• Expertise in Typescript, Node.js, full-stack TypeScript architecture.
• Skills in React, PostgreSQL, Redux, Prisma (preferred).
• Experience with AWS, Pulumi is a plus.
• Knowledge of engineering best practices and culture.
