Overview & Responsibilities:
- We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Records Clerk to join our client’s team. In this role, you'll be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of patient health records. You'll play a crucial part in ensuring the quality and integrity of electronic medical records (EMRs) and maintaining compliance with state regulations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Retrieve and process patient charts from various patient care areas in a timely manner.
- Prepare and scan documents to create high-quality electronic images for the EMR.
- Perform thorough quality reviews to ensure all records and documents are scanned correctly and are legible.
- Accurately index all scanned documents to the correct patient and document type within the EMR, including bar-coded documents.
- Identify, split, and merge documents as necessary to maintain accurate record organization.
- Manage daily electronic worklists to ensure timely completion of all tasks.
- Validate, complete, and submit death certificates in accordance with state regulations, and coordinate with physicians and funeral homes as needed.
- Assist with other departmental tasks, including Release of Information coverage.
- Maintain expected productivity and quality standards, and submit weekly productivity reports.
- Communicate any issues or concerns to the Team Leader and assist in training new staff.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of experience performing document imaging in a high-volume hospital medical records department.
- Must have experience with indexing.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite.
