Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mentor to offer essential support to an adolescent boy. In this role, you will be responsible for providing temporary relief and assistance to the family, ensuring the safety, well-being, and social development of the child in the comfort of their own homes or in the community. Your role will play a crucial part in improving the quality of life for both the children and their families.

CURRENTLY SEEKING A PART-TIME MENTOR FOR AFTER SCHOOL OR WEEKEND HOURS - 10 HOURS/WK

Key Responsibilities:

1. Care and Companionship: Provide one-on-one care, companionship, and emotional support to the child.

2. Engagement and Play: Develop age-appropriate activities to engage in with the child to encourage growth and development.

3. Safety and Monitoring: Ensure the safety of the child at all times, proactively identifying potential risks, and taking necessary precautions to prevent accidents or injuries.

4. Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with the child's primary caregiver and manager.

5. Scheduling: Work with families to schedule mentoring sessions at times that are convenient for them while meeting the child's needs.

6. Community Integration: Encourage and facilitate the child's participation in community activities, as appropriate, to promote socialization and inclusion.

Qualifications:

Experience working with children with disabilities (3 years preferred).

Some knowledge of behavioral diagnoses in children.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for helping children with disabilities.

Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of each child.

Working Conditions:

• This is a part-time position but could lead to full-time if desired
• Work takes place in the child's home or in the community
