Naval Science Instructor (NSI) | Military Instructor – 2 Openings

Location: Rickover Naval Academy High School, Chicago, IL
Start Date: August 6, 2025 | First Day of School: August 18, 2025

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver the JROTC curriculum in military science, leadership, citizenship, and STEM

  • Design and execute lesson plans, training schedules, and interactive exercises

  • Lead core extracurricular and ceremonial activities, such as:

    • Drill Teams, Academic Competitions, Land Navigation, PT Teams, Archery, Color Guard, Drone Teams

    • Awards Ceremonies, Annual Military Ball, Competitions

    • Cadet Leadership Challenge and Summer Camp Programs

Qualifications

Education & Certification

  • High school diploma or GED (required)

  • Associate’s degree (must be completed within 5 years of hire)

  • JROTC Instructor Certification (required)

Military Service

  • Enlisted rank E-5 or higher (Petty Officer Second Class or above) in USN, USMC, or USCG

  • Minimum of 8 years of honorable active-duty service , reserve, or retired

Skills & Abilities

  • Dynamic instructional style—able to motivate diverse learners

  • Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring capabilities

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace

  • Ability to plan large events, manage logistics, and lift training equipment

  • Team-oriented, detail-focused, and adaptable under pressure

  • Demonstrated integrity and positive role-model presence
