Neonatology - Physician Opportunity

Our organization is in search of a board-certified or board-eligible Neonatologist to deliver primary daytime attending coverage, manage night calls, and provide consultations for high-risk deliveries across several Level III NICUs in the Indianapolis region. This position encompasses clinical responsibilities, involvement in multidisciplinary and perinatal programs, teaching opportunities for students, residents, and fellows, as well as participation in quality improvement and academic initiatives, with a potential faculty appointment at a prominent medical school. We offer a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, relocation assistance, and academic prospects. Candidates must have completed a pediatrics residency and a neonatal-perinatal fellowship, and must be licensed or eligible for licensure in Indiana.

We are looking for a dedicated and patient-centered Neonatologist to join our esteemed team in Indianapolis. Our facility, recognized nationally, cares for over 3,500 newborns each year across our Level IV and Level III NICUs. Our multidisciplinary team, which includes board-certified neonatologists, advanced practice providers, and pediatric subspecialists, provides extensive, life-saving care that often begins before birth and continues throughout the NICU stay and beyond. We collaborate closely with maternal-fetal medicine, pediatric surgical and medical subspecialties, and neurodevelopmental follow-up programs to ensure a seamless, family-oriented approach to care. This is a remarkable opportunity to be part of a vibrant academic setting where your clinical skills, enthusiasm for teaching, and dedication to innovation can create a significant impact.

This role will primarily support the Level III NICUs within the Community Health Network. These hospitals provide 24/7 access to on-site Riley neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, and a comprehensive range of pediatric subspecialists through consultations. A portion of the full-time equivalent (FTE) will be allocated to Community Hospital East, which has been recognized as one of Indiana’s Perinatal Centers and has received accolades for excellence in maternal and neonatal care.

  • Community Hospital North: 48 beds, including 42 private suites
  • Community Hospital East: 16 beds, featuring 14 private rooms and 2 mother/baby suites
  • Community Hospital Westfield: 12 beds, opening soon

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary daytime attending physician at Community Hospital North, Community Hospital East, and Community Hospital Westfield, all Level III NICUs in the Indianapolis metropolitan area, with potential coverage opportunities at other NICUs managed by the Division.
  • Engage in the high-risk delivery service and provide consultations for high-risk obstetric patients within the Community Health Network.
  • Participate in night call duties, which include in-house coverage during weekdays and weekends.

Academic & Professional Engagement

  • Contribute actively to the Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine by educating medical students, pediatric residents, neonatal fellows, and advanced practice providers (NNPs and PAs).
  • Candidates with experience in quality improvement initiatives or the creation of clinical guidelines aimed at reducing care variability are highly regarded.
  • Opportunities for academic involvement and scholarly activities are encouraged, with a faculty appointment at the medical school available based on experience and academic interests.

We offer a competitive salary and generous benefits, including retirement plans, relocation assistance, vacation time, continuing medical education (CME) support, and potential quality bonuses.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a pediatric residency and a neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship.
  • Board eligible or board certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine.
  • MD/DO licensed or eligible for licensure in Indiana.
  • New graduates and experienced professionals are encouraged to apply.
