Job Description

Job Summary: The Reach Truck Operator in the freezer section will be responsible for safely operating a reach truck within a cold storage environment to transport, stack, and retrieve products from high racking systems. The operator will ensure proper handling of products, maintain safety and efficiency standards, and comply with all warehouse procedures while working in a temperature-controlled freezer environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate a reach truck to pick and place pallets within the freezer area, ensuring all items are stored and retrieved safely and accurately.
• Safely navigate and maneuver within narrow aisles of high-rise racking systems in a cold storage environment (typically between -10°F to -20°F).
• Load and unload pallets from trucks, ensuring that products are handled with care to prevent damage.
• Maintain an organized work area and ensure inventory is accurately labeled and tracked.
• Conduct pre-operational checks on the reach truck to ensure it is in safe working condition.
• Work with warehouse management to assist in order picking, restocking, and other warehouse functions as required.
• Perform inventory counts, cycle counts, and stock rotation to minimize product loss.
• Follow all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and report any hazards or safety concerns to management.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA, company safety guidelines, and health regulations, especially while working in a freezer environment.
• Ensure proper documentation of product movements, inventory, and any incidents.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid forklift/reach truck certification (required).
• Previous experience operating a reach truck, preferably in a freezer or cold storage environment.
• Ability to work efficiently in a temperature-controlled environment.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Basic math skills for inventory tracking and reporting.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with others in a team-oriented environment.
• Flexibility to work different shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in cold temperatures for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, bend, and reach as needed during daily tasks.
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods while operating the reach truck.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a warehouse or cold storage environment.
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS).
• Experience with inventory control and product handling.
