Northeast Georgia Health System is rooted in a foundation of improving the health of our communities. General Surgery is a 32-bed nursing unit with specialized equipment and care for patients with a variety of surgical specialties including bariatric surgery, urology, oncology gynecology, general surgery, vascular surgery, plastic surgery, podiatry, and other medical and surgical patients during high census. Nurses provide care and monitoring for patients with IV patient-controlled analgesia and are competent in care for patients with nephrostomy tubes, continuous bladder irrigations, biliary drains, Jackson Pratt drains, Constavac drains, epidurals, chest tubes, tracheostomy tubes, and peritoneal dialysis. Nurses who have completed competencies may access and de-access Portacaths and perform negative pressure wound dressing changes. The role requires a capable clinician with previous specialty experience preferred, providing effective direct care as part of an interdisciplinary team to complex patients, assuming beginning clinical bedside leadership, participating in councils and quality teams, and focusing on developing knowledge and skills for new graduates. Responsibilities include providing direct and safe patient care based on the nursing process, coordinating care for assigned patients, and consulting with experienced clinicians. Licensure as an RN in Georgia is required, with an Associate's Degree, ADN or Diploma required, and at least 1 year of RN experience preferred. The position offers up to a $15,000 sign-on bonus, competitive salary and benefits, career growth opportunities, and relocation assistance for over 50-mile radius.
