Schedule: 10 hours per day, 5 days a week (Start Time: 7:00 AM)
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly qualified Safety Professional with experience in construction, specifically in electrical systems, with a focus on temporary power and underground electrical work . This individual will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and health of all workers on the site. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying hazards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and promoting a safety-conscious culture on the job site.
This is a 1-year contract position with a 10-hour workday, Monday through Friday, starting at 7:00 AM daily.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Oversight: Oversee all aspects of site safety, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, local laws, and project-specific requirements.
- Electrical Safety Expertise: Provide guidance on electrical safety protocols, particularly concerning temporary power and underground electrical installations .
- Safety Inspections: Perform daily safety audits of construction sites to identify hazards and unsafe practices, with a focus on electrical hazards and temporary power systems.
- Training and Communication: Lead safety training, toolbox talks, and meetings to communicate hazards and preventive measures effectively to workers and subcontractors.
- Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Conduct hazard analyses and risk assessments, specifically for electrical and underground work, and develop strategies to mitigate identified risks.
- Incident Management: Investigate incidents, accidents, or near misses, and create detailed reports. Recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Safety Documentation: Maintain accurate records, including safety audits, inspection reports, incident investigations, and compliance documentation.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and contractors to ensure that all safety measures are being followed and that workers have a safe working environment.
- Emergency Preparedness: Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response procedures, particularly those related to electrical hazards and underground work.
Qualifications:
- Certification Requirements: Must possess one of the following certifications:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
- Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
- Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST)
- International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IOSH)
- Safety Trained Supervisor Construction (STS-C)
- OR a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) or a closely related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety management, particularly within the construction industry with a focus on electrical work.
- Specific experience in managing temporary power setups and overseeing underground electrical installations .
- Knowledge & Skills: Strong understanding of OSHA regulations , electrical safety codes, and industry standards related to construction and electrical work.
- Ability to conduct thorough safety audits and risk assessments, with a strong focus on electrical hazards.
- Exceptional communication skills for conducting training sessions and engaging with workers to promote safety.
- Ability to stay organized and maintain detailed safety records.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a variety of outdoor conditions and on construction sites.
- Capable of performing site walk-throughs, inspecting equipment, and addressing safety concerns on the ground.
