Compliance/Trade Counsel - Detroit, MI - Hybrid - 4 days in office - Relocation Offered

We’re looking for a Compliance Counsel to support the U.S. operations of a leading global energy storage and EV battery manufacturer. This role is perfect for legal professionals who thrive in fast-moving, high-growth environments and want to ensure regulatory integrity, trade compliance, and ethical business practices in a complex, global industry.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor evolving U.S. trade, regulatory, and environmental laws
• Advise cross-functional teams on compliance risks and best practices
• Support import/export compliance, tariffs, and regulatory filings
• Develop and implement U.S. compliance programs

Qualifications & Experience required:

• JD with 5+ years’ legal experience (3+ in-house or law firm compliance/regulatory work)
• Experience in manufacturing, energy, or automotive sectors.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. trade laws, customs, and industrial policy (e.g., IRA, CHIPS, Buy American Act).
• Expertise in export controls and sanctions compliance.
• Experience working for a Chinese corporation
