OUR NATIONAL CONVERSATION (ONC) seeks to reduce partisanship and promote effective solutions to America’s challenges. Powered by America’s youth, we host a media outlet, produce educational materials and facilitate dialogue intended to make America a better country.
The Video Production Volunteer will contribute to ONC’s mission of providing nonpartisan news, opinions, and policy solutions by assisting with the production of short forms of media, and ONC’s new idea of an educational series that aims to make public policy conversations interesting. The video production intern is responsible for the shooting, sound, and editing of the production. As well as stitching together several individual Mp4s to create longer content pieces from unrelated videos and creating assets to make the content visually enjoyable. Graphic arts skills would be a plus to use for post-production. This volunteer must be creative and a good team player.
This position is remote, with work primarily conducted over Zoom and Slack, so applicants must be comfortable coordinating in a remote environment and are expected to maintain a high level of communication. This intern must commit to at least the end of the Summer semester (August 31st, 2025). However, many people choose to extend their internship past the amount of time they initially committed to, provided their performance meets the required standards.
Responsibilities:
Completing deliverables by the assigned due dates as marked on the content calendar.
Offering ideas for approval on the content calendar including, but not limited to topic ideas, editing approaches, graphic design improvements and rollout/promotion strategies.
Executing the shooting, sound, and editing of the productions and sending it to the Video Production Team Lead in a timely manner.
Understanding key audiences and developing targeting strategies to drive engagement in regard to ONC’s video content.
Effectively communicating with other ONC team members (Slack, Email, Zoom).
Preferably majoring in Film, Video & Graphic Arts, Film/Video Production, Script Writing or related fields; and/or passionate about Film Studies and/or Video Production
Familiar with common video editing software required
Understanding of basic file management required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English) are required
Responsive, consistent, and effective communicator, even during conflict
Ability to work remotely and on their own schedule in order to make deadlines
Google Workspace experience preferred
Knowledge of shooting, sound quality, and editing preferred
Ability to work a minimum of 10 hours weekly
Ability to attend weekly organization-wide meetings
Ability to attend weekly Video Production Team meetings
Must be authorized to intern in the U.S.
